Mike Tomlin just gave Ja’Marr Chase bulletin-board material before Bengals vs. Steelers

The last time the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers met, it was Ja’Marr Chase catching two of Joe Burrow’s three touchdown passes in a 24-10 Bengals win in Pittsburgh.

That was Week 3 and this is Week 12, where the Bengals and Steelers will throw down again, this time in Cincinnati.

And Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin says adjustments made by watching film will help the Steelers slow down Chase this time out.

He then added this, per NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala: “Seems like there’s a young talented WO that takes the league by storm in Sept every year”

It’s not the worst thing in the world for a coach to say. It’s also not that unfair, as Chase has had a hard time getting going over his last three outings. But it’s 100 percent something Chase and the Bengals can and likely will use as motivation before their homestand against a heated rival.

And from a Bengals perspective, it’s on Chase and the coaches to make further counter-adjustments to deflect whatever the Steelers have planned. If Chase gets close to his four catches for 65 yards and two scores (16.3 average) that he had in Week 3, the Bengals will have a good shot at getting a season sweep.
