Mike Tomlin after Steelers loss in San Francisco: ‘We won’t blink’

You could tell very quickly during Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin’s post-game press conference, he was not in the mood to dig into the minutia of the team’s tough loss to the San Francisco 49ers. But he did make one comment we just couldn’t let go.

When asked how the team comes back from a loss like this, he responded with “we won’t blink.”

Really? Maybe you should blink. In fact, instead of taking this approach that a loss like this or an 0-3 start doesn’t matter, perhaps it is time to treat this season with a sense of urgency.

You have to wonder if the reason Tomlin can be so casual about the worst start of his tenure is he has a built-in excuse. The second Ben Roethlisberger was announced to be out for the season, Tomlin became essentially unfireable no matter how poorly the team performs.

Pittsburgh will now prepare for the AFC North battle of winless teams as they return home to take on the Cincinnati Bengals.
