Mike Tirico had no trouble at all calling his first NHL game

It seems like NBC’s Mike Tirico has called just about everything: NFL, NBA, tennis, golf, etc.

And now he can add hockey to his resume. The longtime play-by-play man and host called his first NHL game — a Blackhawks and Red Wings tilt — on Wednesday night, and naturally, he delivered and got raves for his performance.

Listen for yourself — it sounds like he’s been calling hockey games for years, a tough task given how quickly the action moves and the names on the ice change. Here’s a call of his first goal, which was doubly good given how he was mid-chat with Eddie Olczyk:
