Mike Tice: Reiff did an admirable job at left tackle last year but that’s not what he is

As of now, Minnesota returns both of its tackles from last season.

However, former Vikings coach Mike Tice thinks it’s time for a change at left tackle. He had this to say to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press:

“The Vikings don’t have a left tackle. [Riley] Reiff did an admirable job at left tackle last year but that’s not what he is. He’d be better served for him and his career moving forward if he played any other offensive line position but center.”

Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune reported in February of 2019 the Vikings were pondering a move for Reiff to go from tackle to a different position, possibly to guard.

If that was to be done, the Vikings have 12 draft picks, which means they could fill the void Reiff leaves at tackle in the draft. I’d suggest that the team does just that, and tries to land a tackle in the first round.
