Mike Thalassitis' restaurant opening this weekend to raise money for charity in his memory

Mike Thalassitis ' restaurant will open for the first time this weekend to raise money for a mental health charity in his memory.

The tragic Love Island star had been working on the project before his shock suicide and the eaterie will finally open its doors on Saturday.

Business partner Scott Neilson continued working on the plans to honour his late friend after his death in March, and now it's been revealed The Skillet in Loughton, Essex has got an opening date.

It will be launched on Saturday, and it's been revealed that all money raised from drinks bought over the opening weekend will go to mental health charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).

Neilson confirmed the gesture was made to honour the late telly star, who took his own life aged 26 after a battle with depression.

In a post on Instagram , he wrote: "On Saturday 27th April, The Skillet will be opening its doors to welcome the public from 8am-5pm, in honour of Mike Thalassitis...

"In special tribute to Mike, all drink proceeds over launch weekend will be donated to the mental health charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) to build awareness of depression in young men and develop practical resources to support those suffering.

"Mike worked extremely hard on this launch. He was passionate about cooking and it was his dream to one day open a restaurant. Together, we have created a first-rate breakfast bar we hope you will enjoy and we invite you all to come down and celebrate his love of good food.

"Look forward to seeing you all there!"

The posts were shared by Mike's cousin Fran Goldsmid, who thanked Neilson for continuing with Mike's restaurant plans after his death.

She wrote: "Huge praise to [Neilson] for getting The Skillet up and running during such a tough time.

"[Mike] would be proud."

Mike was found hanged in woodland in Edmonton, North London on March 15.

The footballer turned reality star was just 26 and had battled depression prior to his suicide.
