His music may tell tales of English urban life, but the Streets' Mike Skinner has just completed an epic walk from Britain to the south coast of France. Following in the footsteps of his hero Michael Palin, Skinner set off earlier this month from Dover with nothing but the clothes he was wearing and a few coins in his pocket, accompanied by three friends driving a Citroën C5. His journey was filmed for the video to The Escapist, a single from his forthcoming album.
"The road is lonely," Skinner said, "but the time to think straight is welcome. From a grey Dover I bid Albion farewell. Long live Michael Palin."
