Mike Johnson says Republicans are lowering costs — oh wait, that’s just the alternate reality they live in

Mike Johnson continues to make hollow promises to the American people on behalf of the Republican party. Sometimes it feels like these guys are living in a world of their own because they most certainly aren’t living in our reality.

Whether you’re a Republican or Democrat, most can agree that Donald Trump and his party haven’t really managed to bring costs down for the average American. You can say what you want about the current administration’s other policies, but it’s hard to argue with the cold hard facts when it comes to the price of things these days, be it groceries or healthcare, it’s all more expensive.

During a press briefing, Johnson claimed they were ready to “get back to” delivering on their promises to reduce costs for Americans. He stated that the Republican party “has been doing this,” and that they were going to “continue to reduce the cost of healthcare,” as well as reducing the cost of living.

Naturally people are skeptical of these pledges as Johnson isn’t exactly seen as a trustworthy guy. One X user claimed that the Republicans are “the party that has no plan.”

The most insulting part is the use of the word continue because let’s be real, when did the Republicans even start on any of these promises?

Mike Johnson and his party are living in an alternate reality

It seems the speaker hasn’t been paying attention to anything Trump has been doing this year. His Big Beautiful Bill gutted the affordable Healthcare Act leaving millions of Americans across the country without a safety net. If anything, the Republicans have been raising costs for people ever since being voted in.

As for the cost of living, that’s been steadily on the rise too. Ever since Trump’s poorly thought out tariffs were brought in, normal people have been suffering the consequences, but hey, at least it made Trump and his buddies a little but richer.

Others on X put Johnson and his party on blast, accusing them of lying and failing to deliver. “You have been delivering up lies, corruption -both parties!” Wrote one user. Others echoed the sentiment that the Republican party had no plan, another person wrote, “after 15 years, not 2 weeks, you have no idea of a plan. You’re not doing anything for the people.”

It’s true, the Republicans have had a long time to develop a plan of action and yet the first 9 months of Trump’s presidency have progressively seen things get worse. The worst part is how people like Mike Johnson simply ignore it or pretend it isn’t happening while they continue to live in their own bubble.

Perhaps it’s time for the charade to stop, to admit defeat and start thinking of a practical way to get America back on track. But who are we kidding, we all know they’ll just continue to bury their heads in the sand and lie to save their own skins.
