Mike Iupati lands with Seahawks on one-year contract

Another of the Arizona Cardinals’ free agents has found a new team. The latest is offensive lineman Mike Iupati.

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo, he is joining the Seattle Seahawks on a one-year contract.

He played the last four seasons for the Cardinals, but landed on injured reserve on each of the last two years.

Iupati is a four-time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro. He had his best seasons as a member of the San Francisco 49ers but was a key addition before the 2015 season when Arizona went 13-3 and made it to the NFC Championship Game.

Since then, injuries have taken their toll.

He will likely compete for a starting job at left guard, which was vacated by J.R. Sweezy, who will be signing a two-year deal with the Cardinals.

His original five-year contract with Arizona, renegotiated a year ago to void in February, still counts for $3.7 million against the salary cap for the Cardinals in 2019.

Iupati is the fourth Cardinals player to land on another team. Deone Bucannon is joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Antoine Bethea has signed with the New York Giants. Guard Oday Aboushi signed with the Detroit Lions.
