Mike Iupati could resume practice soon but Seahawks won’t push him

The Seattle Seahawks have been missing an important piece of this year’s offensive line with guard Mike Iupati sitting out with a mild foot injury. Coach Pete Carroll is looking forward to his return in the near future.

“Yeah, it’s just a matter of a week or so, one way or the other,” Carroll said Sunday. “We’re not going to push him back until he’s really ready. He had a little trouble with his foot before, it’s a different sprain, but we just want to make sure when he’s back.”

Carroll announced last week Iupati was out of the boot already and on the mend. Iupati did not appear in the preseason debut and game two in Minnesota isn’t looking all that likely. Carroll isn’t too worried about the guard’s missed time.

“We know what Mike can do, and we’re real confident in his playing ability and even his awareness and scheme-wise and all that stuff,” Carroll explained. “He’s ready to go, we’ll get him back and we’ll take our time making sure he’s well and he’ll stay back.”

The Seahawks practice Monday and Tuesday before a rest day on Wednesday.
