Mike Dean has been removed as fourth official for Tottenham’s visit to Chelsea in midweek.
Dean was confronted by an irate Mauricio Pochettino on the pitch after Spurs suffered a shock defeat to Burnley on Saturday.
The Spurs boss was furious after Dean incorrectly awarded a corner to Burnley, which then led to Chris Wood putting Burnley into the lead, in addition to Phil Bardsley escaping a red card for a malicious tackle on Danny Rose.
Pochettino and his goalkeeping coach Toni Jimenez had to be pulled away from Dean after the full-time whistle, and the Argentine immediately apologised in his post-match interview, admitting he had “crossed the line”.
Pochettino is waiting to see whether he will receive a misconduct charge from the FA, which could see him given a touchline ban - he has never been fined or banned before in his six years in English football.
If Pochettino is charged, Dean would have been ineligible to officiate Tottenham’s next match due to FA stipulations.
Dean is now down to be fourth official for Manchester City’s fixture against West Ham on the same day.
