Mike Clay projects the Giants to finish with two wins in 2019

The New York Giants are in for another tough season according to projections published by ESPN prognosticator Mike Clay. As per his model, the Giants will finish with a record of 2-12-2 in 2019.

Here is a game-by-game breakdown. The Giants have a bye in Week 11.

Week 1: Giants 21 @ Dallas 30 (0-1)
Week 2: Buffalo 22 @ Giants 22 (0-1-1)
Week 3: Giants 24 @ Tampa Bay 26 (0-2-1)
Week 4: Washington 21 @ Giants 24 (1-2-1)
Week 5: Minnesota 25 @ Giants 20 (1-3-1)
Week 6: Giants 20 @ New England 31 (1-4-1)
Week 7: Arizona 23 @ Giants 23 (1-4-2)
Week 8: Giants 21 @ Detroit 28 (1-5-2)
Week 9: Dallas 27 @ Giants 23 (1-6-2)
Week 10: Giants 21 @ Jets 26 (1-7-2)
Week 12: Giants 16 @ Chicago 27 (1-8-2)
Week 13: Green Bay 28 @ Giants 23 (1-9-2)
Week 14: Giants 19 @ Philadelphia 29 (1-10-2)
Week 15: Miami 21 @ Giants 26 (2-10-2)
Week 16: Giants 21 @ Washington 23 (2-11-2)
Week 17: Philadelphia 27 @ Giants 21 (2-12-2)

If Clay is correct — or even close — in his projections, the Giants will be drafting near the top of the order again in 2020, perhaps even first overall.

That would infuriate Giant fans to no end for many reasons. The 2020 draft class is loaded with quarterback prospects, but the Giants are unlikely to select one since they used the No. 6 overall selection this year on Duke’s Daniel Jones.

But, the news isn’t all bad. The rest of the league will be falling over one another attempting to get to the top of the draft. The Giants will have a ton of options with their No. 1 pick. They can trade it for a bountiful package of picks and players. They can use it to take one of those quarterbacks and then trade Jones. Or they can keep the pick and do something completely irrational which is not out of the question these days.

None of that may come to pass. The Giants should have won seven or eight games instead of five in 2018 and it’s unlikely they’re going to take a step back in 2019.
