Mike Brown reveals how Bengals leadership continues to evolve after Marvin Lewis’ departure

Things have changed quite a bit more for the Cincinnati Bengals than face value suggests with Marvin Lewis gone.

As Bengals owner Mike Brown told ESPN’s Katherine Terrell, a larger group now takes part in the decisions process. While Lewis was coach, it was simply the two ironing out decisions and going about the process.

Things are different with Zac Taylor. We knew Taylor was a hire unearthed and taken through the process by Katie and Troy Blackburn and director of player personnel Duke Tobin.

Tobin, of course, is effectively a general manager and has been the face of the franchise when it comes to talking about the Taylor hire. He’s stressed having a coach on the same page as those in charge of acquiring talent.

That these names are meeting consistently with the head coach isn’t a surprise and is how a normal franchise should run. But given how things have gone in the past, this is a small bit of good news Bengals fans should appreciate.
