Mike Boone continues to look like he should be the Vikings’ RB3

Vikings running back Mike Boone continued to impress in Saturday’s preseason game against the Cardinals, running 10 times for 41 yards and a touchdown.

Boone also added one catch for six yards.

Boone is in competition with Ameer Abdullah for the team’s third running back spot, and as of now, he probably has it.

Look at this cut, people!

Abdullah, who fumbled in Week 1 of preseason, finished Saturday’s game with one rush for seven yards, to go with a catch for five yards.

Things get tricky when you consider Abdullah is probably the team’s leader to be the punt returner. If the Vikings keep just three running backs, that could go against Boone, but it has been clear that Boone is the superior running back over these three games.

In three preseason game, Boone is now averaging 5.03 yards per carry.

Boone was active for eight games last season with the Vikings and ran 11 times for 47 yards.
