Mike Bianchi: Scott Frost on mentor Chip Kelly: Gators or anybody else would be 'lucky to have him'

Central Florida coach Scott Frost believes his offensive coaching guru, Chip Kelly, would be a phenomenal head coach for the Florida Gators.

In fact, Frost believes Kelly would be a phenomenal head coach for the Gators, the Tennessee Volunteers, the Nebraska Cornhuskers or whatever college might consider hiring him.

During Frost's weekly appearance on our Open Mike radio show on FM 96.9 and AM 740, I asked him if Kelly _ as some are suggesting _ would be the next head coach of the Gators.

"I don't know," Frost said. "Chip and I are real close, but he plays everything close to the vest, too. I know this: College football is going to be much better if Chip Kelly is back in it so I'm always rooting for him."

When I asked Frost how Kelly would fit at a program like Florida, he replied, "Chip's just a good football coach. I think when you're in a vacuum and a really tough media market like Philly that he got a bad rap on a couple of things he didn't deserve. It started out really good (with the Eagles), but didn't end well. That doesn't take away from the fact of how good a football coach he is.

"Wherever Chip lands, they're going to be lucky to have him."
