Mike Ashley confronted by seething Newcastle fan as owner is accused of 'ruining his club'

A Newcastle fan has confronted Mike Ashley in the streets accusing the club's owner of 'ruining his club'.

The Magpies chief was spotted in London as an angered supporter approached him to vent about the Premier League club's current situation.

Ashley, who is involved in a long-running retail court battle with Rangers , has been on the receiving end of criticism over the years for failing to invest in the team and not having the club's best interests at heart.

Former boss Rafa Benitez left the club in the summer and was replaced by Steve Bruce. Newcastle are currently sitting in 17th position in the table with just one win from the first six games.

Bruce's side toiled to a 0-0 draw with Brighton at the weekend and now one fan made his feelings known when he encountered Ashley.

He said: "Mike Ashley, you have ruined my club you know? Just sell us, you have ruined my club sir.

"Just sell the club and keep it moving."

Ashley is a controversial figure north of the border too as the Sports Direct owner is at the centre of a court battle with Rangers .

The Ibrox club signed a kit deal with Hummel, but could owe Ashley millions after failing to give Sports Direct the opportunity to match the offer.
