Mikael Lustig set to hand Celtic major boost ahead of Rangers clash

Mikael Lustig is set to hand Celtic a major boost by being fit for Sunday’s showdown with Rangers .

The Swedish international sat out last night’s Euro 2020 clash with Norway having sustained a thigh injury four days previously against Romania.

Lustig, however, is poised to go straight back into training at Lennoxtown on Thursday having responded excellently to treatment.

The defender was kept on the bench by his national team during the dramatic 3-3 draw with the Norwegians in Oslo, but said afterwards: “It feels much better.

Lustig is set to recover from an injury picked up playing for Sweden (PA)

"If the match had been tomorrow [Wednesday] night, I think I would have been playing.

Asked if he’d be fit for the clash, Lustig added: “I think so. I will train on Thursday and then we will see.”

Lustig’s availability for the crunch clash at Parkhead will be a massive bonus for boss Neil Lennon who has restored the Swede back into the starting line-up since taking over from Brendan Rodgers.
