Mikael Lustig hands Celtic fitness boost as he's named on bench for Sweden

Mikael Lustig looks likely to win his battle to be fit for Sunday's clash against Rangers after being named on the bench for Sweden.

The Celtic defender limped out of Saturday's clash with Romania and looked like a doubt for Sunday's showdown at Parkhead.

But the right back is likely to hand a major boost to Neil Lennon by being fit for the game.

It's a further boost for the Hoops after Dedryck Boyata returned to training today despite missing Belgium's clash with Cyprus.

Mikael Lustig admits Celtic fitness fight as he faces Rangers sweat

Earlier this week, Lustig had spoke about his doubts over whether he would be available for the game when he said: “At first, I thought it was an ordinary thigh knock and that I could run it off.

“But then I started to feel it and looked down to see that it was swollen.

“I tried to play on, but the longer the game went, the more difficult it became to run.

“It hurts and I don’t know how long it can last.

“It is borderline for Tuesday, but it is clear that we will do everything to make me fit.”

Mikael Lustig set for Celtic contract D-Day as he confirms AIK interest

Asked about the Old Firm, Lustig added: “It’s a big game that I want to play in, but we will see.

"First of all, I have to get fit for Norway. That seems far away right now, but you never know.”

If the right back gets on, he will go up against fellow Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer who starts for Norway.
