Miguel Cabrera is not in the Detroit Tigers' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Kansas City Royals.
Cabrera suffered a left biceps strain and left Monday night's 3-1 loss against the Royals, but the Tigers didn't think it was a long-term issue.
"It wouldn't surprise me if Miggy said he was fine tomorrow," said Tigers manager Brad Ausmus following Monday's game. "But we'll wait and see what he feels like tomorrow."
Cabrera left after four innings. He suffered the strain in the first inning, while extending for an errant throw from left-handed pitcher Daniel Norris. On the play, he made contact with Royals right fielder Cheslor Cuthbert, but Ausmus said it wasn't the contact that forced Cabrera out, rather the way his arm bent back.
"The runner kind of hit his glove hand and knocked it back," Ausmus said. "I couldn't tell when it happened. But he said he wanted to try to hit to see if it bothered him."
Cabrera flew out to center field in the bottom of the fourth inning and exited the game. Jarrod Saltalamacchia took over for him at first base.
