Miguel Almiron shows of his skills as he takes time out before heading back to Newcastle United

Newcastle United's Miguel Almiron has been taking some time out before returning to Tyneside for pre-season.

The 25-year-old is back in Paraguay spending time with friends and family but looks fit and ready for the new season - showcasing his skills with a bit of football table tennis.

Almiron has already been in action this summer after advancing to the quarter-finals of Copa America with Paraguay where they were knocked out by eventual winners Brazil.

The forward suffered a hamstring injury towards the end of last season forcing him to miss the final three games of the campaign.

Following a quick recovery, he returned straight to action with Paraguay, so the sight of the former Atlanta United man moving freely and looking happy will be a positive note for Newcastle fans.

Almiron has already been linked with a move away from Tyneside - with Real Madrid credited with an interest. However, Almiron, when asked about the link said he was 'focused' on Newcastle.

United fly out to China later this month with their first game on July 17 -  where Almiron is expected to join his team-mates.
