Miguel Almiron's summer plans put on halt with big decision to be made

Miguel Almiron is waiting to find out which country he'll be spending June in after Argentina and Columbia were stripped from hosting Copa America.

With protests in Columbia, and a surge of COVID-19 cases in Argentina, the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) removed both from hosting duties and is now weighing up other destinations.

For Almiron and his Paraguayan teammates, that means a wait to see where he'll be travelling and competing - and Conmebol is determined to make sure the tournament goes ahead after last year's postponement.

The Federation will meet later today to go through the offers of other countries to host the competition - with Brazil looking to reclaim their 2019 title.

Almiron is currently with his national side and will take part in World Cup qualifying games against Uruguay and Brazil in the first week of June before Copa America kicks off - if it still goes ahead - on June 13.

Newcastle United fans can watch all games live on the BBC, meaning they can keep close tabs on Almiron.
