Miguel Almiron makes an admission about his Newcastle United goal drought

Miguel Almiron has spoken about his Newcastle United goal drought.

The playmaker is yet to open his account for the Magpies after his big money move from Atlanta United last January.

Almiron has weighed in with one assist this season, but the wait goes on for his first strike in the Premier League.

, Almiron said: "I think that I'm very calm and relaxed about the situation and feel that goals tend to come by themselves.

"Goals will come and I'm more keen than anyone to get on the scoresheet but I think it's more than just goals.

"I'm here to help the team and when you are helping the side and contributing in other areas, I think that's very important too.

"The main thing at the moment is that the team is winning, we are in good form and there is a good atmosphere feeling around the squad."

Almiron and his team-mates can climb back into the top 10 with a win against Burnley at Turf Moor.

When asked about the clash, Almiron, speaking to NUFC TV, said: "We are improving all the time in all areas and it would be great if we were to pick up the three points at the weekend as it would leave us in an ever stronger position in the league and would be excellent for our fans as well.

"The main thing is to keep our focus in the short term, week by week, and make sure we are training hard, playing well and improving."
