'Miguel Almiron has more dives than goals this season' - Chris Sutton blasts Newcastle star

Former Celtic and Blackburn forward Chris Sutton has blasted Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron for his diving antics this season.

The 25-year-old was booked against Manchester United for simulation last Sunday and then was sent off for Paraguay against Serbia on Thursday after picking up a second booking for a dive.

Twice in the space of five days, the former Atlanta United man has been reprimanded for diving and it isn't unfair to suggest that he will be gaining a reputation among Premier League officials.

Almiron has impressed both Rafa Benitez and Steve Bruce at Newcastle but the fact he is yet to score a goal since joining in a club record deal in January is a cause for concern.

And Sutton has blasted Almiron for his diving record in comparison to his lack of goals on Tyneside

"Well, Miguel Almiron has more dives than goals this season," Sutton told BBC Radio 5Live's 606.

"He's not scored. He goes top of the table [for simulations]. You are better than that, Almiron.

"What's going on with players? What's going on with country? They're not listening. You are better than that, Almiron. Let's see goals! Let's not see dives! Let's not see the simulation."
