
TAK: A Myanmar worker was killed and 12 others injured, six badly, when a shuttle bus taking migrant workers back to work in Bangkok crashed into a concrete barrier and overturned in Muang district in the early hours of Saturday.
The incident happened at the Doi Ruak curve between kilometre makers 66-67 on Highway 12at around 12.30am, said a duty police officer at Mae Thor police station.
When police and rescue workers arrived, they found a bus with Chai Nat licence plates overturned in the middle of the road. Rescue workers retrieved all passengers, who are Myanmar migrant workers, from the bus.
One migrant died and 12 others were hurt. Of the injured, six were badly hurt. They were rushed to a nearby hospital.
A police investigation found that the bus was carrying 35 Myanmar migrant workers back to work in Bangkok after they went to Tak to have their nationality verified. The speeding bus lost control at the curve while going down the hilly road and crashed into a concrete barrier dividing the road. The impact caused the bus to overturn in the middle of the road.
Police were investigating.
