‘Migrant’ confronted by schoolgirl, 12, wielding axe in Dundee says he came to UK legally and did nothing wrong

Fatos Ali Dumana has spoken out since the viral incident - (Facebook)

False claims about a girl brandishing weapons in Dundee that Elon Musk and Tommy Robinson amplified online have been rubbished by the man involved and police.

Misinformation spread on social media about a recent knife incident in Dundee linking it to the small-boats migrants crisis.

Police Scotland have charged a 12-year-old with being in possession of offensive weapons, namely an axe and knives, following events on Saturday in the city’s Lochee area.

Posts on X alleged the child and her friends had been followed and recorded by two men described as “migrants”.

Others portrayed her as a “Braveheart” figure defending her homeland with comparisons to the grooming gang scandals of Rotherham and Rochdale.

But it has now emerged Fatos Ali Dumana came to Britain legally from Bulgaria and he and his wife have an eight-month-old baby.

The digital creator, 21, confirmed he is not an asylum seeker and did nothing wrong.

Dumana told the Daily Mail: “I have seen the social media and it's blown up.

“In the video she’s saying, ‘Don’t touch my sister, she’s only 12’... I never touched her. I didn’t hit her, I swear on my life, I have a baby now. I would never hurt someone.

“If she’s only 12 why was she messing with me and having weapons?

“I was going to the shop and she was stopping me going on my way. If I did hurt the girl, why didn’t the police arrest me?

“I am not an illegal migrant. I have not done anything... I did not hit them, I am a human not an animal.

“I’ve seen what's on social media every day, I want people to know what happened.”

Chief Superintendent Nicola Russell, who is responsible for Police Scotland’s Tayside division, said on Wednesday: “We are aware of misinformation being shared on social media in relation to an incident where a Bulgarian couple were approached by youths in St Ann Lane, Dundee, on Saturday August 23, 2025.

“A 12-year-old girl has been charged with being in possession of offensive weapons. She will be referred to the relevant authorities and our inquiries are ongoing.

“We would like to thank the local community for their help with our investigation and would urge the public not to share misinformation about this incident or speculate on the circumstances.”

Former Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf added on X of far-right activist Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon: “Who would have thought a convicted fraudster and liar was talking utter mince?”

World’s richest man Musk, the owner of X, had also reposted the allegations to his almost 225 million followers.
