The big story: Police and migrants clash at European borders
The demolition of homes in the Calais ‘Jungle’ camp is expected to continue today. Yesterday saw clashes between the police and migrants as the makeshift shacks of up to 200 people of the approximately 3,500 people living in the camp were removed.
While some residents have moved into shipping container shelters and a small number have left on state-provided coaches to centres elsewhere in France, many more remained inside the main camp.
Meanwhile, Macedonia has defended its firing teargas at refugees who broke through a frontier fence on the Greek-Macedonian border. Chaotic scenes have intensified across Greece as the government edges closer to declaring a state of emergency to deal with tens of thousands of migrants and refugees trapped in the country.

The Home Office is to publish a revised draft of snooper’s charter later today. The home secretary, Theresa May, has reviewed some elements of her controversial legislation in an attempt to address criticism by MPs and peers of the surveillance powers it confers. Parliament raised 129 concerns with the charter.
