Migos rapper Takeoff dies aged 28 after being shot in Houston

Rapper Takeoff, part of hip hop group Migos, has died at the age of 28 this morning after being shot in Houston, Texas.

Takeoff, real name Kirshnik Khari Ball, was playing a dice game with his bandmate Quavo when a shooter opened fire at bowling alley 810 Billiards & Bowling Houston, according to reports. Law enforcement rushed to the scene, but Takeoff was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fans have flocked to social media to pay their respects and share condolences after the news broke, with many sharing their shock at Takeoff losing his life so young.

One wrote: "This is really devastating", while another added: "I can't believe this, it's so devastating." A third fan chimed: "I can’t believe this. Prayers to for his family, Quavo, Offset & everyone around him".

Takeoff is best known as part of the hip hop group Migos, along with his uncle Quavo and first cousin once removed Offset. The group released their first mixtape in 2011, and rose to fame with their single Versace two years later.

Their debut album, Yung Rich Nation, was released in 2015, and their single Bad and Boujee soared to number one a year later and went on to be certified four times platinum. In 2017 the band released their second album, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Us 200.

Migos' representatives have been contacted for comment.
