Might Bite may return to action in Many Clouds Chase at Aintree

Might Bite looks set to make his seasonal return in the Many Clouds Chase at Aintree Racecourse in December.

The Nicky Henderson-trained 10-year-old never fired in three runs last season, having finished the previous campaign with victory in the Grade One Betway Bowl at the Randox Health Grand National meeting after finishing runner-up to Native River in the Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival.

Henderson is hoping Might Bite can return to form in a similar way to former stable-mate, the great Sprinter Sacre did. And the Seven Barrows handler is eyeing Aintree on December 7 as the starting point to what he hopes will be a return to the top for the smart staying chaser.

Henderson said: "He has got to find his way back.

"There is no point throwing him in there for the sake of it. He has done various things, and we've been schooling with him. It's about getting his confidence back.

"All I'm thinking is I'm going down the Sprinter Sacre road, in a horse that has lost his way and things have gone wrong. We knew what had gone wrong with Sprinter, but he had to gain confidence in himself.

"You have to think the same way with Might Bite, because he has been in a lot of battles and was very good, but last year was a disaster.

"I believe in him, but he has got his own self-confidence to find. The Many Clouds at Aintree looks a possible starting point for him."
