Midterms 2018 - LIVE: Everything you need to know about the US elections

The US is less than two weeks away from the 2018 midterm elections on 6 November and races around the country are heating up.

Democrats are attempting to gain control of the US House and Senate in the wake of a contentious, partisan battle over the newly-confirmed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh

There are several state and local races of importance, too, as the parties square off for control of state legislatures and local city councils.

Follow our liveblog below for all the latest as the elections approach.

Things are looking good for Democrats in generic ballot polls with just a week until the midterm elections.

Democrats, in a recent poll, lead among voters across the country by 17 points — a startling figure if it accurately reflects the views of voters across the country.
Young American voters are notorious around election time for not making it to the polls.

They talk a lot of game, and have a lot of opinions, but tend to not make it to the ballot box.
