Celebrities have been working overtime to encourage their fans to vote in the US midterm elections, with many now providing reactions to the hard-earned results.
The Democrats won back control of the House of Representatives in a victory that will check Donald Trump's agenda over the next two years and lead to a multitude of investigations into his business dealings and his administration.
It's also been a night of firsts, with a record number of women winning House seats, while Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar became the first Muslim women elected to Congress.
"So far 100 women elected to Congress. For the first time," tweeted actor Maggie Gyllenhaal; others like Mia Farrow and John Cusack also celebrated the news.
"So many historic firsts tonight. So many women making history. So much work to be done— so many exciting humans to do it," Tessa Thompson wrote.
Ben Platt, Billy Eichner, and James Corden also rejoiced in the fact that Colorado's Jared Polis became the first openly gay male governor in US history.
However, the biggest takeaway from the night is the fact the House of Representatives is now under the control of the Democrats. As John Legend explained: "Flipping the house despite all the gerrymandering was no small feat. Despite it being expected by the polls, this is still a BFD. The House has so much power to hold the president accountable. I look forward to some real oversight."
