Midlothian mum left with bite wounds after shocking dog attack

A Midlothian mum has been left with bite wounds after she was suddenly attacked by a dog.

Warning other locals, Nicci Scollon said she has been left furious over the incident which took place in Loanhead.

Nicci's mum had stopped to check her car tyre, near Loanhead Memorial Park, when the dog suddenly appeared.

She said: "The dog and owner appeared out of nowhere. As the dog went for her he ignored the situation and continued walking away into the park.

"Mum is on the mend but is very bruised today and is resting."

Locals have been in touch with Nicci to say the dog is well known in the area, with the owner's neighbours suggesting it is around a year old.

The dog is described as looking similar to a German Shepard.

Nicci, who is also a dog owner, added that she wouldn't want to see any harm come to the dog but that she hopes to see it properly trained and brought under control.

She said: "I'm just angry more for the fact there was no remorse and no apology."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland received a report around 9.45pm on Saturday, 8 Augustof a woman having been bitten by a dog near Loanhead Memorial Park. Enquiries are ongoing."
