Midlothian girl, nine, 'grabbed' by man in park as police hunt attacker

A nine-year-old schoolgirl was 'grabbed' by a man as she played in a local Lothians park, according to reports.

Police in Midlothian have confirmed they are investigating the incident at the park in Bonnyrigg after reports the young girl was approached by the man last weekend.

Playing at Waverley Park on Friday afternoon, officers stated that the nine-year-old was reported to have been approached by the man at around 3pm.

After approaching the child, the man is said to have 'grabbed' her, with police continuing to carry out enquiries in the area regarding the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers received report of a nine-year-old girl having been approached and grabbed by a man at Waverley Park in Bonnyrigg at around 3pm on Friday, August 26.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
