Midlands accountancy firm Dains invests in workforce with new appointments and internal promotions

Midlands-based accountancy firm Dains Accountants is investing in its workforce – despite the uncertain economic landscape as a result of COVID-19.

The company – which has just ended its best ever year – has made a number of key promotions and new appointments across its offices in Stoke-on-Trent, Lichfield, Burton, Birmingham and Derby.

Tax specialist Terri Bruce has joined the company as a tax director while Mark Gurney has been promoted internally to associate director for audit.

Ten other employees have also been promoted to more senior positions in the Dains’ audit teams from the start of April and new starters are now being recruited across a number of departments, including commercial services, audit, payroll and tax.

In Stoke-on-Trent, Dains’ audit teams have been promoted to more senior roles including Will Owusu who has been appointed to a semi senior role and Amy Ellis has become an audit senior.

In Birmingham, Akshay Patel, Amy Dobson, Jenny Sam, Lucy Whitehouse and Nick Garner are now all audit semi seniors while Rob Jones has been promoted to supervisor and Josh Hawthorn and Shiva Peters have progressed to assistant manager positions.

Richard McNeilly, Dains Managing Partner, said: "It is extremely pleasing to see the next generation of our employees going from strength- to-strength as they develop their knowledge, skills and experience and they have been rewarded for their efforts.

"Businesses are facing extremely tough times at the moment and we will continue to support all our clients through this difficult period."

Richard added: "At Dains we never stand still and are always looking to progress and take the business to the next level.

"We have just ended our most successful year in our 94-year history and recognise that our greatest asset is our people and new staff additions and promotions within the business reflect that."
