Midfielder 'turns down' Nottingham Forest January transfer ahead of deadline day

Midfielder Dan Gosling has reportedly rejected a permanent move to Nottingham Forest.

The Reds were said to have been in talks with the Bournemouth man about a switch to the City Ground as boss Chris Hughton looks to bolster his squad.

But the BBC say Gosling “has turned down” the chance to join Forest on a permanent basis, ahead of next week’s deadline.

They report: “The 30-year-old’s preference is to stay and help the Cherries in their fight to bounce back to the Premier League.”

Hughton is keen to strengthen his squad further before the January transfer window closes next Monday.

Anthony Knockaert has extended his loan deal from Fulham, while Filip Krovinovic has been brought in on loan from Benfica.

The Reds are also understood to be interested in Brighton and Hove Albion striker Glenn Murray, who Hughton worked with while in charge of the Seagulls.

Back in May, Gosling said he hoped to finish his career with the Cherries.

"I've got huge respect for everyone at the club; the chairman, the chief exec, the coaching staff," he told Sky Sports.

"All the people who work behind the scenes are all fantastic people, so I'm very settled here.

"My little one's supposed to be starting school in September. We go on dog walks along the beach, and in the summer our family comes to stay and we have great days out, and they always say how lucky we are living here.

"It's a way of life that suits us. To bring up kids in a place like this, there's not too many better places."
