Midfielder signs as Nottingham Forest prepare for further arrivals

Nottingham Forest have signed Jack Colback.

The 30-year-old midfielder returns to the City Ground following his release by Premier League Newcastle United at the end of last season.

He has previously enjoyed two successful loan spells with the Reds, playing over 50 league games for the club.

"Nottingham Forest are delighted to announce that midfielder Jack Colback has signed a permanent contract with the club," said Forest in a statement.

"The former Sunderland and Newcastle man made over 200 appearances in the North East regularly featuring in the Premier League before enjoying two successful loan spells at The City Ground where he made over 50 appearances in the Garibaldi."

He is the first of their summer signings and the club is   expecting more business in the weeks ahead.

Burnley fear over Worrall

Premier League Burnley are worried they will not be able to afford Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall, according to the Daily Mirror.

Sean Dyche's side were linked with the talented centre-back at the weekend as they look to bolster their squad for next season.

But the Clarets feel that Forest will prove tough to break as they seem determined to keep hold of their top stars this summer.

And the Mirror say Burnley fear they will be priced out of a move for the 23-year-old with the Reds determined to be "tough negotiators".

The Reds have already shown their willingness to not their let their prized assets leave the City Ground on the cheap having turned down Sheffield United's £10m bid for Matty Cash.

Duo looking to bag Cash

Leeds and Aston Villa are reportedly 'monitoring' Matty Cash as speculation over the defender continues.

The Sheffield Star claim that both Premier League sides are pondering a swoop for the right-back who has been the subject of a £10m bid from Sheffield United.

But that offer was rejected by the Reds and we revealed how the 23-year-old is not seeking a move away from the City Ground despite all the attention.

The report says: "United have also tabled a bid, understood to be worth £10m, for Nottingham Forest defender Cash.

"Leeds, Aston Villa and Milan are believed to be monitoring his situation."

Striker target stays in Greece

Greek striker Fotis Ioannidis will not be joining Nottingham Forest after completing a move to Panathinaikos.

Recent reports from Greece suggested that the Reds were making a late move to land the 20-year-old forward.

However, Ioannidis has now put pen to paper on a four-year contract at Panathinaikos.

He arrives from Levadiakos, where he played under Forest ’s head of international recruitment Jose Anigo for a time.

"I am very happy and grateful to be at such a big club," Ioannidis told the official Panathinaikos website.
