Midfielder hailed as 'outstanding talent' by Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool return

A former Liverpool prospect, who never represented the club despite signing two contracts, says he still hopes to return as a player one day.

Allan Rodrigues de Souza joined the Reds from Brazilian side Internacional during the summer of 2015, in a deal worth £500,000.

But work permit complications resulted in the midfielder being loaned out to six different clubs before finally leaving in January 2020.

Despite his experience, Allan, as he is commonly known, told The Athletic that he still dreams of resuming his Liverpool career one day.

He said: “I have great memories of the club, the supporters and the atmosphere of Anfield on a match day. It is still a dream and if it was down to me I would return to the club one day."

Remarkably, Liverpool managed to sell Allan to Brazilian side Atlético Mineiro for £3.2m, resulting in a healthy £2.7m return on their original investment.

With loan spells at clubs such as Hertha Berlin, Eintracht Frankfurt and Fluminense under his belt, Allan has gone on to help Atlético Mineiro win their first league title in 50 years, before also winning the Copa do Brasil to complete a domestic double.

However, he is yet to score a goal for the club.

Now 24-years-old, it seems unlikely that the player once described by Jurgen Klopp as 'an outstanding talent' will ever wear the red shirt of Liverpool on the pitch but Allan continues to believe that dreams can come true.
