(Reuters) - German midfielder Pascal Gross has extended his contract with Brighton and Hove Albion until 2022, the Premier League club has said.

Gross, who joined Brighton from Ingolstadt last July, was instrumental in the club retaining their top-flight status last season, scoring seven goals and providing eight assists in 38 league appearances.

"We are delighted that Pascal has agreed a new contract with the club," manager Chris Hughton told Brighton's website. "He has enjoyed an excellent first season with us in the Premier League, and we are really pleased with the impact he has made."

The 26-year-old's exploits earned him Brighton's player of the year award at the end of the campaign.
