Nottingham Forest midfielder Liam Bridcutt says it was “a good decision” to join Lincoln City on loan in January.
The 31-year-old has not been part of Sabri Lamouchi’s plans at the City Ground and made a January transfer deadline day move to the Imps, having spent the first half of the season at Bolton Wanderers.
With the League One season curtailed as a result of the coronavirus crisis, Bridcutt managed five appearances and scored one goal for Lincoln.
His Reds contract is due to expire at the end of this month, and it is expected he will be free to move on, having not worn the Garibaldi since October 2018.
But he says he “enjoyed” his time at Sincil Bank.
“The manager and the players made me feel really welcome and I believe I made a good decision to come and play my football here,” he told World Football Index.
“The manager, Michael Appleton, was the reason why I chose Lincoln City.
“I had previously spoken to players that have played under him and they could not say a bad word about him in terms of the way that he works.
“He has great attention to detail and he is up there with some of the best young managers in the country and that was one of the big reasons that persuaded me to sign for Lincoln City.”
Bolton had hoped to re-sign Bridcutt in January, after he made 12 appearances for the club, but City won the race for his signature after they allowed Tyler Walker to return to the City Ground early from his loan spell.
