Middlesbrough vs Swansea City team news confirmed as Joe Rodon out of Championship restart

Joe Rodon is unavailable for Swansea City's first Championship match in more than three months against Middlesbrough due to injury.

The Wales international has been left out of the matchday squad for the Swans' clash with Boro at the Riverside Stadium this afternoon.

It's understood the centre-back did not feature for the Swans in their behind-closed-doors meeting with South Wales rivals Cardiff City last weekend.

Fans were left concerned as he could not be spotted in images shared by the club on social media in the build-up to the fixture against Jonathan Woodgate's men.

And their fears have been confirmed as Rodon will miss out on Swansea's first post-lockdown encounter this afternoon. It has been confirmed he suffered a quad strain this week.

Steve Cooper has made two changes to the side that started against West Brom at the Liberty Stadium on March 7.

Ben Wilmot comes in for the absent Rodon while Connor Roberts replaces Kyle Naughton at right-back.

And following a change in rules due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Cooper has been able to name nine substitutes on the bench for the game at Boro as opposed to the usual seven.

The full squad news is available below.

Middlesbrough: Stojanovic; Howson, Shotton, Fry, Friend; Clayton,Wing, McNair, Coulson; Nmecha, Gestede.

Subs: Pears, Spence, Johnson, Saville, Morrison, Tavernier, Roberts, Fletcher, Assombalonga.

Swansea City: Woodman; Roberts, Wilmot, Cabango, Bidwell; Fulton, Grimes (C); Ayew, Gallagher, Kalulu; Brewster.

Subs: Mulder, Guehi, Celina, Dyer, Routledge, Dhanda, Naughton, Byers, Garrick.
