Middlesbrough legend hits out at 'embarrassing and humiliating performance' against Nottingham Forest

Middlesbrough's performance at Nottingham Forest on Easter Monday was blasted as embarrassing and humiliating by Bernie Slaven.

The Boro legend didn't hold back on his scathing assessment of the 3-0 defeat at the City Ground in which his old side slipped out of the play-off places and into seventh behind Derby County.

A brace from Joe Lolley and an Alexander Milosevic strike sunk Boro, who saw a three-match winning run ended with matches against Reading and Rotherham left to come.

Boro sit level with Derby on 67 points, but the Rams' superior goal difference has them five goals ahead of Tony Pulis' side and in the top six.

Slaven's comments come with Pulis under fire from supporters who have seen their side slip out of the automatic promotion places under his watch.

He tweeted: "An embarrassing and humiliating performance from Boro against Nottingham Forest, a team who are already on holiday.

"But for (goalkeeper Darren) Randolph’s heroics, it could have been six - still top six but for how long?"

Slaven hit 118 goals in 307 matches at Boro between 1985 and 1993.
