Middlesbrough in late move to rival Bristol City and Nottingham Forest for Arsenal striker - report

Middlesbrough have revealed a late interest in Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.

The Northern Echo report that Boro boss Jonathan Woodgate is a big fan of both Nketiah and Tottenham Hotspur winger Jack Clarke, who were both on loan at Leeds United in the first half of the season.

With Boro's spending power limited, they could well favour a loan move for a player such as Nketiah, although their interest in the player has come a bit late.

Bristol City are front runners in the race for Nketiah's signature, with the Robins having held a longstanding interest in the striker that stretches back to when he turned them down in favour of a move to Leeds in the summer.

However, the Robins face competition from the likes of Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday for the 20-year-old.

Boro's interest has likely come too late to turn the race for Nketiah in their favour, however.

The striker was set to make his mind up over which club he goes to yesterday or today, which means it would be a very quick turn in events for him to be heading to the Riverside.
