Middlesborough move for Jordan Archer after Motherwell exit

Jordan Archer has joined English Championship side Middlesborough on a deal until the end of the season, after leaving Motherwell.

The 27-year-old former Millwall keeper made four appearances for the Fir Park club after arriving on a short-term deal in October as cover for injured Trevor Carson.

With that contract expired, he arrived on Teeside this morming to complete the deal, and will provide competition for Marcus Bettinelli, with Dejan Stojanovic having left the Riverside.

Archer will chase a second successive promotion, having been part of a Fulham side that made the step-up to the Premier League.

Middlesborough boss Neil Warnock told the club's website: "I've looked at Jordan the last few years. Ever since he was at Millwall, he's a player I've liked.

"Dejan made it clear to me that he wants to go out and paly to try and get into the Austria team for the Euros and reluctantly I agreed to that.

"I thought why not give Jordan the opportunity to show us what he can do over the next few months, and I'm delighted to have him on board."
