'Middle lane hogger' who blocked motorway for 11 miles spared fine

A “middle lane hogger” was pulled over by police after blocking motorway traffic for 11 miles.

Traffic officers described the incident as “one of the worst cases of lane hogging” they had even seen after the silver-car-driving motorist was pulled over.

The driver was said to be “completely oblivious of traffic around them” after they failed to move into the slow lane during an 11-mile stretch on the M20.

The driver was eventually stopped by an unmarked patrol and escaped a penalty fine.

They were handed a traffic offence report (TOR) according to Kent Police on Saturday.

A spokesman said: “This driver who was driving on the M20 is guilty of one of the worst cases of lane hogging ever seen by the RST (road safety team).

“A total of 11 miles in lane two, blocking other vehicles, completely oblivious of traffic around them.

“TOR issued for careless driving.”

The driver could be offered an educational course after escaping a penalty fine.
