IDF says Lebanese soldier killed by device 'most likely placed' by Hezbollah

A Lebanese soldier was killed and an officer and another soldier were wounded when ​a ‌suspicious object exploded in an ⁠army vehicle in southern Lebanese town of ‌Mansouri, the Lebanese army said earlier ⁠Saturday.

The Israeli military has put out a statement noting that, "following a review, it can be determined that the explosive device did not belong to the IDF and was most likely placed in the area by the Hezbollah terrorist organization".

The IDF said its soldiers had not been present in the area ​recently and the Lebanese army ​vehicle had entered what it described ​as the security zone without prior coordination with Israel, ​as required under an existing coordination mechanism.

The Lebanese army said it was continuing to investigate the incident and did ⁠not provide further details.

They are the first US deaths due to direct Iranian fire since the opening days of the war.

It says four other service members who were were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals were later discharged.

The dead were not identified.

Iran’s supreme leader says US president’s signature ‘worthless and invalid’

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayotollah Mojtaba Khamenei has released a new statement accusing Washington of repeatedly breaching commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), and said the US president's signature was "worthless and invalid".

Khamenei's written message warned of "unforgettable lessons" if US attacks on Iran continued.

The statement attributed to Khamenei, still unseen since the war began, was read out on state television.

Israeli military says it struck Hezbollah fighters after drone spotted in southern Lebanon

⁠The ⁠Israeli ​military has said ​it struck a Hezbollah cell near Tebnit in ​southern ‌Lebanon ⁠after soldiers identified a Hezbollah ⁠drone in the area.

The air ​force located ‌fighters that had been operating drones ‌and taking cover ​near Israeli troops, the military said in a ​statement, adding ​that the ​activity violated ceasefire understandings. ​

There was no immediate comment from Hezbollah.

Hezbollah buries dozens of fighters in south Lebanon

Hezbollah held a mass funeral for dozens of people, most of them fighters killed in the most recent fighting with Israel, in southern Lebanon's Majdal Selm.

The Iran-backed Shia group, which drew Lebanon into the Middle East war by attacking Israel on March 2, does not reveal the number of fighters it has lost.

But it has organised several funerals during the current lull in fighting, which followed the June 17 signing of a US-Iran memorandum of understanding.

In the heavily-damaged village, Hezbollah buried 44 people, 39 of them fighters and four civilians said to have been killed in Israeli operations, and one man who died of natural causes.

Iran attack sparks two fires in Kuwait, firefighters injured, fire service says

Kuwait's fire service said Iranian attacks have sparked fires at two locations in the country, with several firemen injured, after an attack was reported at a power and water plant.

The fire service said on X that it was dealing with "two fires that erupted in two different locations" following the latest Iranian attacks, adding that this "resulted in injuries among firemen and a worker", who were taken to receive care.

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has left Beirut for Washington, where he is expected to meet Donald Trump, the Lebanese presidency said, after talks between Lebanon and Israel wrapped up in Italy.

Aoun will hold discussions "with several American officials on the situation in Lebanon and ways to strengthen the ceasefire", particularly in Lebanon's south, as well as on "the withdrawal of Israel from the Lebanese regions it occupies", the presidency said.

Kuwait Airways reschedules most flights after airport suspension following Iranian attack

Kuwait ​Airways ​said it has ​rescheduled ‌most ⁠flights ‌after the country ⁠temporarily suspended operations at ​Kuwait International ‌Airport following Iranian missile ‌and drone ​attacks.

The airline had earlier said ​the ​rescheduling ​was due ​to the closure of Kuwaiti airspace.
