Middle-aged women, both aged 50, are arrested for dealing Class A drugs

A pair of middle-aged women have been arrested for dealing in Class A drugs from a council house.

Police swooped on the flat in a planned raid before breakfast on Thursday.

They burst in to take the occupants by surprise.

It happened in Macadam Square in Ayr around 8.30am when officers arrived with a signed search warrant.

The two ladies, both aged 50, will now appear at the town’s sheriff court later this month.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old woman has been arrested and charged for alleged drink driving at Whitletts Road, Ayr on Friday night.

About 10.15pm police were contacted with a report of a woman who appeared under in the influence of alcohol whilst driving her vehicle.

Officers attended and traced the vehicle resulting in her arrest.

The woman was held in police custody for a court appearance.

A 55-year-old man has been arrested and charged for allegedly breaking his bail conditions and being in possession of controlled drugs and a knife, also on Whitletts Road.

About 3.10am on Sunday he was stopped and searched and police found Class B drugs and a knife.

A check found he had also broken bail to remain at home.

And a woman aged 23 has been given a police warning for trying to shoplift in Tesco in Ayr on Thursday afternoon.

She tried to steal a quantity of goods and then left the store, before being tracked down.
