'Middle-aged Love Island for people with normal bodies' to be launched by ITV

It's reported ITV is to launch a middle-aged Love Island for people with "normal bodies". Sources say it will be for contestants in their 40s and 50s.

"Times change and the current generation in their 40s and 50s still care about how they look, are fit and healthy, into fashion and are ready to let their hair down," a source told the Sun newspaper. It comes ahead of not one but two series of Love Island in 2023.

There will be the regular summer version followed by a winter edition from South Africa, reports BirminghamLive. Speaking about ITV's plans for a new show, the source continued: "This show will give those who settled down young a second chance at love while they still feel in their prime."

They added: "And, let’s face it, they know their minds, will be capable of intelligent conversation and are likely to be much more adventurous — all ingredients regular Love Island sometimes lacks." Four new Love Island bombshells, including Halifax striker Jamie Allen, will enter the villa during Wednesday night's episode.

The 27-year-old professional footballer will join the series alongside new contestants Reece, Lacey and Nathalia.
