Mid Ulster football club suspends all activity after positive Covid-19 test

A Mid Ulster football club has suspended all activity after a player tested positive for Covid-19.

Oxford Sunnyside said they have stopped all games and training for the next seven days after a member of its reserve team had tested positive for the virus.

In a statement posted on their social media, the Lurgan club added: "When our player became aware that they may be infected they took all necessary precautions as per government guidelines.

"The club has consulted the appropriate bodies and have been advised to stop all activities for seven days as a precaution and to allow us to undertake a deep clean of our facilities.

"We wish our player well and hope for a speedy recovery."

Oxford Sunnyside's first team were due to play Ballymacash Rangers at Knockramer Park this weekend in Intermediate A.

Ballymacash sent their best wishes to the player affected.

"Our best wishes go out to the player involved and we hope he has a speedy recovery," the Lisburn outfit said.
