Mid-air emergency declared aboard TUI flight from Edinburgh to Lanzarote

A flight declared a mid-air emergency minutes after leaving Edinburgh Airport.

TUI flight BY1454 departed the airport shortly after 6am this morning and was bound for Lanzarote.

However an emergency was declared around 6.30am and FlightRadar shows that the plane appears to have turned round, and landed at Glasgow.

The plane was diverted minutes after take off (flightradar24)

The plane was scheduled to leave Edinburgh around 6am but ended up departing at 6.10am.

It was due to land in Lanzarote at 10.45am.

The nature of the emergency is not currently known.
