Microsoft Team failure leaves school pupils unable to access online learning

Pupils in Scotland are experiencing problems with accessing online learning today following a technical issue with Microsoft Teams.

It is the first day of pupils returning to lessons after the extended Christmas break, with children being told to learn remotely from home amid the rising covid rates.

A number of schools have complained about the issue on Twitter, with the programme - a key platform used for home learning.

Clyde Valley High School in Wishaw said: "Our online learning provision begins today for all of our pupils. Due to the very high demand for Microsoft Teams across Scotland, there may be issues initially getting logged on or accessing some files. This is a National issue on the site and may take a little time to rectify."

Glow Scot - which is part of the platform used for online learning - said they were in contact with Microsoft so the issued could be "resolved ASAP".

The company said: "Microsoft are experiencing issues with the Teams service across the UK this morning. This is not exclusive to the Glow platform and we are in contact with Microsoft to ensure these issues are resolved asap."

Microsoft Team has also confirmed they are "currently investigating a potential issue affecting Teams access for some users in the UK".

A Glasgow City Council spokeswoman said: “We are aware that there seems to be an national issue with teams at the moment and hope this will be sorted as quickly as possible.”
