Microsoft stock on Tuesday hit its fourth all-time high in as many trading sessions. The software giant is rising on its leadership position in agentic artificial intelligence applications.
On the stock market today, Microsoft stock rose 0.9% to close at 490.11. Earlier in the session, it reached a record high of 491.85.
Microsoft stock is in the 5% chase zone of its breakout from a 47-week consolidation pattern at a buy point of 468.35, according to IBD MarketSurge charts. It hit that buy point on June 5. The buy zone extends to 491.77, based on IBD trading guidelines.
Microsoft is the world's most valuable company, with a market capitalization of $3.64 trillion. Nvidia is second, with a market cap of $3.62 trillion. Apple is third at $2.99 trillion.
On Tuesday, BofA Securities called Microsoft one of the "key beneficiaries" of the new agentic AI software era.
"We believe industry analysts are underestimating the medium-term uplift to software spending from AI agents," the BofA team said in a client note. "Agentic functionality could be the defining catalyst for AI monetization, as agents have the potential (to) serve as the unlock for sustainable, measurable, and material workforce productivity improvements."
Microsoft Stock Is On 2 IBD Lists
The Redmond, Wash.-based company is exposed to the agentic AI trend through its Microsoft 365 productivity products, Azure cloud services and partnership with OpenAI.
"Microsoft has infused AI broadly into its productivity and cloud offerings," BofA said.
"Microsoft 365 Copilot is embedded across Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.) to assist with drafting content, analyzing data, and summarizing emails/meetings," the investment bank said. Further, "Microsoft Copilot Studio (part of Microsoft 365) is a low-code environment for building AI agents that integrate with enterprise data and APIs (application programming interfaces)."
In addition to Microsoft, BofA named Salesforce, Intuit, HubSpot, GitLab and OneStream as agentic AI beneficiaries.
Microsoft stock is on two IBD lists: Long-Term Leaders and Tech Leaders.
