Microsoft claims Outlook email and Xbox Live access issues have 'largely been resolved'

Tech giant Microsoft has reported that a problem that stopped some Outlook users accessing their email accounts has largely been resolved.

Another issue surrounding its Xbox Live gaming link has also been corrected.

People attempting to access the email service on Tuesday evening were met with error messages indicating that the service was unavailable.

Microsoft said users were also having issues signing into its Xbox Live gaming service, but later reported that the issue was fixed.

A message on the company’s service status website said the fault had left people unable to access Outlook.com services.

The company said on Wednesday morning: “Our continued monitoring indicates that the majority of users have successfully recovered access to the affected Outlook services, however we’re still seeing reports of intermittent issues for a small subset of users.

“We’re working on narrowing down the root cause of the issue to help mitigate impact for those still affected.”

The popular Outlook.com platform supports Outlook, Hotmail and Windows Live email accounts.
